THE NEHEMIAH PROJECT
Organizational Overview
The Nehemiah Project
The Nehemiah Project emerged from the Shepherd’s Watch, a benevolence ministry established nearly twenty years ago with a mission to assist all in need, regardless of their faith. Our team comprises seasoned professionals across various fields: contractors, educators, clergy, attorneys, CPAs, tradespeople, doctors, nurses, artisans, carpenters, and painters. United by a commitment to God’s call to serve one another in love, we continue this mission with unwavering dedication.
The Shepherd’s Watch Foundation, a 501(C-3) non-profit entity, has been established to fund The Nehemiah Project. This foundation aims to raise the necessary funds to purchase and renovate a dilapidated former City of Atlanta elementary school in Lakewood Heights, a low-income area in Southeast Atlanta. This building, long abandoned and now a haven for the homeless and those battling addiction, will be transformed into a state-of-the-art job training facility.
The Project Vision
Our vision is to convert the old, decrepit school into a beacon of hope and opportunity, dedicated to transforming the lives of homeless and low-income families in the community. The Nehemiah Project will offer comprehensive job training and spiritual enrichment, creating pathways to sustainable employment and a renewed sense of purpose.
Training Programs
The Nehemiah Project
The facility will host a variety of training programs, designed to equip individuals with skills that open doors to better employment opportunities. Programs will be completed in a year or less, with the exception of an advanced Nursing course, which will be a two-year accredited program. Our planned courses include:
Facility Maintenance
Medical Coding
Theatrical Production
Welding
Culinary Arts
Automotive Mechanics
Automotive Paint and Body
Additionally, we will offer apprenticeship programs in:
Residential Construction
Plumbing
Electrical Trades
A Need for Change
The persistent issues of chronic poverty and homelessness have plagued our nation for far too long. The Nehemiah Project aims to address these issues with a comprehensive, sustainable approach, focusing on both skill development and spiritual growth. Our goal is to eliminate the barriers that have kept so many in cycles of poverty and hopelessness.
Holistic Approach
The Nehemiah Project
Skill Development: Our job training programs are designed to provide practical, marketable skills that enhance employment prospects.
Spiritual Enrichment: We believe that true transformation requires a change of heart and mind. Alongside vocational training, we will offer:
